Health & Handwriting (December 2008)
Recently, a friend of mine showed me a check that Joseph, a man she was dating, wrote. She wanted me to look at his handwriting and give her some insight into his personality. After looking at the handwriting on the check I told her a few tidbits about his personality and mentioned to her that he was having a health problem.
"What type of health problem?" she asked.
I explained to her that in handwriting the upper zone (the tops of the capital letters and the upper loops, or upward extensions, of the lower-case letters b, d, f, h, k, l, and t) correlates to the head or upper body.
The middle zone, (the mid-part of the letters and the lower case letters a, c, e, i, m, n, o, r, s, u, v, w, x, and z) correlates with the mid-section of the body---the heart, lungs, and other internal organs.
And the lower zone, (the lower loops or lower extensions of the letters f, g, j, p, q, and y) correlates with the lower body.
Then I pointed to the "J" in Joseph's signature. The bottom loop of the 'J' was disconnected. I explained that broken lower loops indicate that a person has had some type of trauma, physical or emotional, relating to his or her sexual organs, sex life, or lower body.
"That's amazing," she said. "Joseph has prostate cancer".
A few months ago, I began working with a physician on a research project. We are looking at the association between handwriting characteristics and health. We want to analyze whether handwriting changes may be used to predict the development of medical conditions. And we want to investigate whether one's handwriting might be used to diagnose medical conditions which exist but have not otherwise been identified, as they are not associated with medical signs or symptoms. The findings so far, have been amazing (even to me).
If you would like to be part of the research project, please send a handwritten letter describing your condition. Please include your phone number and send it to the address below.
